Welcome back West Palm Beach Fishing Club!
On Saturday June 11, 2011, a small fleet of boats with members of the prestigious West Palm Beach Fishing Club (one of the oldest Fishing Clubs in the world) arrived at Sunrise Resort and Marina for what turned out to be the best fishing week ever!
Back for their third annual outing, it was déjà vu for the boaters as they were welcomed by many familiar faces. Approximately 40 members and guests participated in this year’s outing and spent the week catching a variety of fish, including skipjack tuna, blackfin tuna, yellowfin tuna, mutton snapper, yellowtail snapper, strawberry grouper, dolphin, queen snapper and yellow eye snapper.
One of the noteworthy catches was from former Club President John Jolley and his boat the ‘Seaclusion’ who hooked a large blue marlin on the very first day of their visit! The fish took a lot of line, but unfortunately threw the hook. This was Mr. Jolley’s third consecutive visit to Sunrise Resort and Marina and he plans to return again next month.
The group came to fish, and fish they did! Some family members and guests also found time to enjoy our beautiful island. One family went horseback riding, while others enjoyed a nature trail walk, shopping and even a little gambling in the Port Lucaya casino.
Everyone at Sunrise enjoyed seeing old friends and making new friends! We look forward to seeing you again next summer, if not earlier!
And, we also look forward to hearing more of the fishing stories from the trip! Feel free to share them below here by leaving a comment or email us with photos!
